Reviews on Leela Lounge Restaurant

The food was good, but not enough spice.  We were looking forward to eating here because it’s right across the street from where we live and we’ve read rave reviews, but it was somewhat disappointing. The decor and ambience was fantastic and the waitress was nice, but the service was very slow.  It was a Wednesday night and there were a lot of people at the bar drinking, and the noise carried into the dining area so I could barely hear myself talk.

Overall I might eat here again.  Try the lamb dish (the saucy one) and the samosas…also the spinach and cheese naan is to die for.

    New York, NY

Saffron colored curtains adorn the floor to ceiling windows of this off the beaten path modern take on Indian.  I celebrated my birthday on a Tuesday evening and the friendly hosts /owners  were very accommodating, considering some of my guests were quite tardy.

The sexy, dimly lit lounge is lofty and spacious.  The comfortable seating and soft music is the perfect recipe for  vis a vis conversation. I indulged in a delightful lycheetini …a well crafted concoction that was thankfully not too syrupy.

The adjoining dining room is quaint and cozy. Lovely Indian artwork and candlelit scones danced on the walls adding to the overall festive yet understated vibe.  The wooden tables and chairs made for comfortable seating.

The 7 of us started with a few appetizers.. We mistook the shrimp skewer as an entree – it was so generously portioned.  The basket of assorted cheese and garlic nan was warm, doughy, and the accompanying eggplant dip was tangy and spicy.  We devoured the vegetable samosas-crisp on the outside, stuffed with warm spiced green peas and potatoes.   The Crab cake was different…not our favorite.
